Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a technology exclusive to large corporations. Today, it is the most powerful engine for productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness for SMEs. Recognizing this potential, Portugal’s Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR) has launched a specific funding line: the “IA nas PME” (AI in SMEs) initiative.

What is the “IA nas PME” Line?

It is a non-repayable incentive (a grant you don’t have to pay back) that covers up to 75% of eligible expenses in Artificial Intelligence implementation projects. The maximum support per company is 300 thousand euros.

Who Can Apply?

Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises legally established in mainland Portugal, with their status regularized with the Tax Authority and Social Security.

What are the Eligible Expenses?

The program is comprehensive and covers exactly the type of solutions that deliver tangible results:

  • Acquisition of Software and SaaS Subscriptions: Initial costs for tools like Copilot, Gemini, Claude, and other AI platforms.
  • Acquisition of Equipment necessary to incorporate the AI solutions.
  • Hiring of Human Resources: Funding for up to 2 technicians or managers dedicated to the project (up to €80,000 per position).
  • Consultancy and Training Services: Crucial for successful integration and maximizing return on investment.

What are the Key Trends and Suggested Gains?

The call for applications frames AI solutions into two key areas, which are perfectly aligned with our pillars of operation:

  1. AI for Productivity: Gain operational efficiency.
    • Practical Example: Implement a RevOps Virtual Assistant that automates the analysis of marketing and sales data, prioritizes leads, and suggests actions, freeing your team for strategic activities.
